What is an Adventure Dive?

A supervised introduction to a particular diving activity, with the relevant knowledge review, briefing, underwater tasks, and debrief. Choose an eligible topic with Patric, such as Fish Identification, Peak Performance Buoyancy, or Underwater Naturalist.

Before you book

You need an appropriate diver certification and must meet the selected dive’s age and prerequisite requirements. A single dive does not award Adventure Diver or a full specialty certification. Patric can review credit toward later training.

Who can enroll?

PADI Junior Open Water Divers or Open Water Divers aged 10 or older; age limits restrict which dives younger students may choose. Contact Patric about equivalent certifications.

This course forms part of the Advanced Open Water pathway. Eligible dives may also count toward the corresponding specialty’s first training dive; Patric will review your record.

Entry requirements

Open Water Diver or an accepted equivalent; minimum age 12 for Junior Advanced Open Water. Age-specific depth limits apply.

Two required dives

• Deep: planning, depth awareness, and considerations for deeper recreational dives.
• Underwater Navigation: compass use, natural references, and estimating distance underwater.

Choose three electives

PADI options include Fish Identification, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck, Dive Against Debris, Underwater Naturalist, Digital Underwater Photography, Night, Search and Recovery, Dry Suit, and Enriched Air Nitrox. Patric will confirm which options he can conduct for your dates, age, prerequisites, equipment, and dive conditions.

What you complete

Knowledge development and five instructor-supervised Adventure Dives. Each elective introduces a skill area; it does not automatically award its full specialty certification. Ask about eligible credit toward later specialty training. Online study alone does not complete this course.

Entry requirements

Minimum age 15 and PADI Adventure Diver or a qualifying certification.

What you learn

• Research a wreck and plan an appropriate dive.
• Recognize hazards and consider the equipment needed.
• Observe the wreck and its marine life without disturbing them.
• Practice wreck exploration skills and techniques for entering suitable wrecks under instructor guidance.

Training format

Knowledge development and four dives with Patric. Any penetration activity depends on site suitability, conditions, student readiness, and PADI course limits. This is recreational wreck training, not unrestricted access to enclosed wreck interiors or technical penetration training.

Who is it for?

For the scuba pathway, PADI Junior Open Water Divers or higher can participate; Patric will review eligibility before booking.

What you learn

• Understand marine debris and its effects on wildlife and habitats.
• Plan a survey and assess whether an item should be removed or left in place.
• Use appropriate collection equipment while maintaining buoyancy and avoiding entanglement.
• Sort, count, weigh, record, and report the debris after the dive.

Training format

Knowledge development, available through PADI eLearning, plus one supervised survey dive and reporting activities. The emphasis is responsible collection and data—not removing hazardous fishing gear beyond your training.

Conservation starts with action

Open to divers and non-divers. Complete the knowledge development and work through conservation topics with Patric; no scuba dives are required.

• Reducing waste and supporting ocean-conscious travel.
• Marine protected areas and ways to participate in conservation.

Sharks and marine life

Patric includes discussion of shark protection and responsible wildlife interactions. The certification here is PADI AWARE Specialist; a separate AWARE Shark Conservation specialty is a different course.

Anyone interested in the aquatic world. PADI lists no age restriction or prerequisite for this non-diving certification.

Training format

Instructor-led conservation learning and completion of the course requirements. No water session is required, making this suitable for non-diving travel companions as well as divers.
